Our Statement of Faith

Zion Baptist Church holds to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 as our statement of faith. Here’s what that means, in plain words:

The Bible

God wrote it through men He inspired. It’s true, trustworthy, and without error, and it’s the final word on everything we believe and how we live.

(2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21)

God

There is one true God, forever existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all fully God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)

Jesus Christ

God’s Son, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and is coming back.

(John 1:1, 14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4)

The Holy Spirit

He convicts us of sin, draws us to Christ, lives in every believer, and gives us power to live for God.

(John 16:8; Romans 8:9–11)

People and Sin

God made us in His image, but we have all sinned and are separated from Him. We can’t fix that on our own.

(Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23)

Salvation

Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. Those who are truly saved are kept by God forever.

(Ephesians 2:8–9; John 10:28–29)

The Church

A local church is a family of baptized believers who gather to worship, grow, and carry the gospel to the world. It is led by pastors and served by deacons under the lordship of Christ, with the congregation deciding its matters together.

(Acts 2:41–42; Ephesians 4:11–12)

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Baptism by immersion is a believer’s public testimony of faith in Christ. The Lord’s Supper is how we remember His death until He comes. Neither one saves; both obey.

(Romans 6:3–5; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26)

The Great Commission

Every believer is called to share the gospel and make disciples, at home and around the world.

(Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 1:8)

Family

God designed marriage as the covenant union of one man and one woman for life, and He calls parents to raise their children in the faith.

(Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22–6:4)

Last Things

Jesus will return personally and visibly. He will raise the dead and judge the world. Believers will live forever with Him in heaven; those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God in the lake of fire.

(1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 20:11–15)

Grow together in the Word.

The best way to really know what we believe is to open the Bible together. Sunday evenings at 5 PM we have Bible study for men, women, students, children, and nursery, and Wednesday nights at 7 PM we dig in again.

Pull up a chair — there’s room at the table for you.
